My boat is 20+ years old and I don't allow smoking in my boat or my truck. I couldn't imagine what I would do if I had a new boat and someone dropped their cancer stick on my boat.

smoke em if you got em!

Honestly I have never had anyone that smokes not ask in a polite manner and thus I just tell them to be careful. Too much other stuff in the world to worry about than a man and his Marlboro.

Man, this thread is like a personality test.

Sorry, but comparing smoking in a car to smoking outside on a boat in the middle of the lake is just silly. The friends I have that don't want others smoking in there car is because of the smell and how long it lingers. Completely understandable.

Also, I don't have any fishing buddies that are that uptight as to where a little cig burn on their boat is gonna ruin there week.

I think some people need to smoke something else and just chill out. bolt

Shoot, I don't care if we are fishing out of my (one day) $40,000 bass boat or my duck hunting aluminum, if I ask you not to smoke or to put it out, you da.. well better. And if you are planning to smoke in my rig you better ask first or expect an [censored] chewing

never be ashamed of something you do just because society thinks you should.

To the OP, the solution is simple, its your boat, if you dont want people smoking in it just say no smoking is allowed in my boat.

I smoke and i dont give a rats a$$ who likes it or not, but i will respect other peoples property.

I had a partner once that smoked, I Smoke so it was ok, that was until I bought a new boat and looked over and he was puttin a cig out on the gel coat, needless to say, we parted ways that day. IF you are fishing with me and you smoke, field strip it over the side and put the butt in your pocket

A burned spot in boat carpet is a really easy fix. Takes a razor blade, some carpet fibers from under a lid, some glue, and fine minutes.

If you smoke while you fish you're reeling too fast...

I smoke, been trying to quit for 40 years. If I'm going in someone else's boat I don't bring cigarettes. Unless I know he smokes and doesn't care if I do. I'm smoking electric cigs right now, and hopefully in the future I won't have to think about it.

Great post !... That is one of the first conversations I usually have with my non boater in draw events, I say " do you smoke ?" and if the answer is "yes", then I say " can you go 8 hours without smoking ? " and if the answer is "no" then off we go to the see the tournament director to get a partner swap - most tournament directors will make the swap, but for the most part the non-boater will respect my request and bring/borrow some dip or chewing gum and make the day without dying from not smoking...LOL...I understand he is an adult and allowed to smoke but as prior mention it's my $45K and I had a dude burn a hole in the carpet of my first Ranger and it was the last time anybody smoked in my boat - because "I'm sorry" doesn't take the burn away...just my two cents.

Depends on what they're smokin. I find out while still on shore. Then I remind them to bring along plenty as this is a team or draw and Jones can't come along.

I require people to shower, have clean clothes, brush their teeth, have clean shoe soles with low grip (as not to rough my carpet), ask them not to step on seats, bring my water and snacks, respool my rods the night before, pee in a bottle to avoid the urine stain, pick up all plastics and line, wipe and detail the boat before we leave the lake. I also ask them to back my boat into the back yard and unhook while I go inside to eat dinner. Life is good! smile

You can avoid having ulcers by adapting to the situation: If you fall in the mud puddle, check your pockets for fish. ~Unknown

Open your eyes & look within, are you satisfied with the life youre living.

No matter how good or bad you have it, wake up each day thankful for your life. Someone somewhere else is desperately fighting for theirs.
