Fouz mentioned "Oakley" and "Lone Star Series". Our team operates the "Oakley Big Bass Tour and Oakley Redfish Tour" which are national in scope, but start out each season here in our home state of Texas (Lake Conroe & Richland Chambers). We reside in DFW and also operate the "Lone Star Series, BPS Grapevine Series, BPS Garland Series, as well as special events such as "Kings of Cowtown, Kings of Dallas, Texas Basscat Owners, Take a Soldier Fishing, and many charity events each year.

I will piggy-back on what Charley mentioned in his post and think most would be surprised of how little most tournament directors actually make and may ask why most of us do it. For most of us, we love hosting tournaments and work tirelessly to provide a quality experience. My friend Mark Jones works harder than anyone that I know in the fishing industry and gives so much time and effort to provide the best possible value and professionalism to the tournament angler, quite often taking a significant loss personally in the process, but he has a genuine love for our sport and what Mark and Keith Odom have built with the Oakley Big Bass Tour and their new Oakley Redfish Tour is simply beyond belief.

In regards to lower turnouts equally lower payouts, ask the angler's that fished the LSS last Saturday at Ray Hubbard. Mark guaranteed the payout of $5000.00 to first place even though we only had (47) entries. We will continue to work hard to build our tournament offerings and continue to make improvements.

[quote=fouzman][quote=Easy Fisherman]Amen to tooo many & how does one person continue to outfish all the other 200 people fishing month after month - are they that much better ? lucky ? or maybe all the rest don't know how to fish - lots of things wrong right now I'd say

That nasty wind played a large part in the lower than expected attendance. RR will be better. See you on the 30th...

I agree with you Justin, and we are confident that there will be a larger field.

I really can'y believe that people are complaining so much about having options on where they fish. If you get 10 people in a room, and ask them 10 questions about what they want in a tournament series, each of those 10 guys are probably going to disagree with at least one person on every single answer. Now multiply that times 100, and then 1,000, and you start to see why there are so many different trails across the state, with different kinds of paybacks, rules, parties, tv shows, simple, complex, small, large, five fish stringers, three fish stringers, big bass, etc. The trails that offer the best incentives for their anglers (whether that be payout, sponsors, comradery, championships, getting their picture taken, the trail with the best "jerseys," etc) will continue to hang around, and the ones that don't, won't. If you like the trail that you are fishing, then do everything you can to help spread the word and try to get more people to fish it. If you hear good things about a trail, then give it a try.

I'm just shocked. This is almost an attack on the free market way of life! To each their own, though.

Chris

Good point Chris.....

It was a hard lesson to learn, but I finally realized that no matter what you do, you will never make everyone happy, it's simply impossible. All you can do is give your best effort....

Sorry to hijack but..Minerals wells bass club switched from granbury on the 6th to ray bob on the 13th . 2 reasons. To give the members a chance to fish the mega bass on fork , and switched from granbury to raybob because of the low water and fish kill issues. If anyone in the area gets a chance come check out the club they do so. Great people and a great schedule. Check out our website in my sig.

Too many people complaining and not fishing. I for one appreciate the efforts and hard work of all the TDs. Pick a trail you like and fish. Don't like a trail. Don't fish. Pretty simple. But heck what do I know I'm just a perstaffer.

Scott Gordon isn't getting rich off hosting tournaments. He does it because he enjoys it. I will continue to support that because without them we wouldn't have anything to fish. Then instead of too many tournaments people will be on here complaining about not enough. It never ends. Geez.

Anyways the "perstaffer" signing off. And it's 76 not 75. I added Kleenex today. Figured I would go broke handing out tissues to all the cry babies so at least now I get 10% off. banana

Sweet Dillard!!...you got Kleenex and I got Vagisil. There won't be a trail around that won't need our products.

disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with Vagisil...it is a joke. Shut up and Fish!!
