OK thanks. I didn't know that. I also just wasn't sure if some of these guys communicate in this way or not. Not saying it happens by any but it seems logical that mode could possibly come into play.

Traybird said he rode with Rojas the first day. Rojas had 15 lbs out of there the first day. Rojas was the first boat in the area and should have had the water in that part to himself. If an angler chooses not to go there first thing they lose the right to share it with the guy who went there as his first option and is using it as plan number 1. However there are not any written rules just unwritten courtesy.

I won't repeat what words occurred on Saturday either. It got pretty tense up there.

Don't know much about Alton at all. He seems to be a congenial fellow on stage and after hearing a few of his comments it's interesting that he appears to see encroaching somewhat differently than the traditional perspective. But what do I know ?

LOL

The thing is everyone but Faircloth missed the chance to get on the best concentration(s) of fish. My guess is hardly anyone knows/knew where this area is. I've fished it before, it is strict freshwater marsh but hard to access even in an aluminum boat. Faircloth I am sure had inside info.

I think more of the anglers could have fished the Taylors Bayou system ... lotta water and plenty of good fishing. Faircloth was in a bayou off Taylors called Big Hill Bayou and in Shallow Prong Lake which feeds Big Hill to an extent. When Todd said it was 18" of water he wasn't stretching it.

Can't really understand Todd only catching 4 on the 3rd day as this area is very fertile. Plenty of good fishing north of where Faircloth fished. Bayou d'Inde seems way too small an area although I've never been there. I also think the guys that ran to Galveston Bay were a bit stupid ... just no need to do that!

I fished in the outfall of Taylors Bayou (for trout and redfish) this weekend and could see the guys run by. We could hear where Todd Faircloth was running and he had to really push his boat to get to his fishing hole. The water is very skinny and has some hairpin turns to get back to where he was fishing. If he did not stay on plain he would probably get stuck. The only way I would trust getting to the lake he was fishing is with an airboat. Congrats to Todd he earned it.

Thursday and Friday had at least 20 boats in the Taylors Bayou system.

Not literally "push". Push it to the limits

Yikes, I sure hope not as this would be a rule violation.

Sorry bud..... I deleted my post as soon as I realized the context. My fault.

Yeah, it looks like a rat maze (getting there). How far is that, how long did it take him to get there? How do you get there, exactly? How in the world would he know to go there? How does all that work?
I've got a lot more respect for these pro anglers. That is one tough profession.

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

+1 What Angler(s) did that? They ran from the Bass...haha EDIT:(McClelland) He went to Clear Creek? Man, what was he thinking? There are Bass there no doubt but why the heck did he make that decision?

Two guys on here that claim different things. One saying Rojas was in there Thursday the other saying Jones. Its a long tun from the takeoff. Depending how much other water you have found would weigh in on whether you chose to share water or not. Remember its a vast system but tons of it is salty enough to not hold bass. You need areas that have pretty good inflow to keep the water fresh enough to hold bass. You may have limited bass holding areas a close enough run once you committed to the long run to a area.

The fact that 3 chose to fish the same pretty small area had to concern all of them that they would run out of fish. Rojas probably wins if he is in the area alone. However others had the area scouted. Its not like they were running down the lake and saw Rojas bend a rod.

Lots of times not even the anglers know how this type of situation goes down. They think they know but sometimes even they do not have enough info.

Its typically in their best interest to work these situations out. Sooner or later they both may need the others cooperation.

I followed Faircloth yesterday from the saltwater barrier to shallow prong yesterday. He did stay on plain all the way back. I trolled once the channel turned into the first flat. Aside from a camera boat(local news), they stayed a hour before wind picked up, another spectator and I went back to watch. He left after a hour as well. Me and his BassTrak guy were the only boats back there. Troy Broussard was in his airboat with the full camera crew, staying off in the grass videoing. We left about 1:30 and Faircloth and his BassTrak guy left behind us, all on our big motors. All of us had jackplates maxed out and motors trimmed all the way up. It's super shallow, but luckily I could make out the small channel, with both boats close behind. I definitely wouldn't recommend going back there, unless you know the area though. Had a great time watching our local Texas boy win $100,000.

Bass stand more salt than you'd think. Had an acquaintance that caught 2 out of Sabine Lake. I fished a small bayou south of Beaumont years ago (for bass) and caught redfish, stipers, flounder, blue and channel cats, and mostly bass! Also saw a lot of shrimp in there.
