I was fishing at Lake Coleman, the fish had not started biting yet, I was getting sunburned on my arms, and I had to relieve myself. I found a secluded beach, paddled over, nobody was around and solved one of the problems I was having (couldn't do anything about the fish biting, nor the sunburn). As I was standing there, I thought "I feel pretty stable in this thing" (the kayak was beached). The second time the same problem arrived I went through the same process, find a secluded beach, relief delivered. Again I thought to myself "I fill stable in this thing" (Kayak beached) but this time I also thought "I think I could stand up in it on the water." I grab my paddle and push myself back, still standing. I am really getting confident now, so I nudge myself back a little further, still standing, "hmmmm this isn't that hard, I have balance like a mountain goat, and I am so sure footed in boat right now", I push a little further out, turn my head to holler at my partner "Look I told you I could stand up in mine......" about that time SPLASH I'm laying in about two foot of water and my yak is completely filled.

Lessons learned: 1. Standing up in a sit in kayak is not a good idea; 2. As soon as confidence sets in mother nature does her job and knocks you back down; 3. The wiring in my yak is good, completely submerged everything still worked. Even though I took a spill, I had a blast on the water, tried out the lights on the yak, and even managed to catch some fish.

Hahaha! It takes a little practice. Great about the lights and fish!

I've think about trying to stand up in my yak everytime I go out. I think I'll wait til the water warms up.

Funny, funny. Just as well you were shallow. You would really be brave to stand up in deep water in a sit inside.

I can't piddle up hill in a pvc tube.

Would not have been able on the Pescador but Saturn will be much better.

Ditto. Though I'm not banking on having too much success in my Pescador.

Just wondering . . . which way did you fall. Into the clear water or the yellow water? LOL I wouldn't answer this one if it were me.
