So just driving along yesterday at about 65 and i start losing power then a alarm goes off i it shut off and let it sit. Start back up and it sounds horrible however no metal in oil lower unit spark plugs. The motor has no power and wont even get out of the hole.anyone have similar issues

No, I have not had that issue with either of the SHOs I have owned, nor have either blown a power head.

no problems with mine either, course I let mine warm up for 10 minutes or so before I take off with it, seems to be the key to keeping them in good shape, lets the oil circulate from what they tell me at yamaha

It gets warmed up everytime so idk it has about 110 hours on it

No its got a horrible vibration and sounds kind of like clang but the alarm hasn't gone except for that one time

My buddy just had the same thing happen to him. Powerhead was his problem.

What year. They had some powerheads blow on the 2010s between 100-110 hours

Why do people post that they have no problems with theirs? Irrelevent. He has serious motor issues from the sound of it.


By the way, I havent had any issues with my Pro XS.

This has nothing to do with what the op has asked. I just went in the garage and check my hours at 197. I wonder if some of these issues is due to not letting the engine warm up properly? Just because the engine is running at neutral doesn't mean all cylinders are firing. This engine has to be in gear to properly warm up. What I mean is from what I'm told by the yamaha guys is only 4 cylinders fire at idle.
