Check your hook if you are using a Z Man Chatter bait. I was using one on Friday and got it hung and bent the hook. I was going to get out the pliers to straighten it out but....no need.. I bent the hook back like it was made of soft aluminum wire. Something is wrong for a hook to be that soft. I can bend it easily with two fingers and hooks are not supposed to be that soft, and that was a new bait. I am taking the rest back to Academy.

Those chatterbaits are junk, you must go on the black market to find the good ones

The Chatterbait Elite series has the good hook.

They were the original series, not the elite. For a 5 dollar bait they should have hooks that are stronger than crappie hooks.

I knew something was up. I kept hearing about how the new hook was better and even used a few with a guide on Fork.

These looked cruddy out of the package.

Go to Barlows Tackle in Richardson and get some of the Shakee Blades and snaps and turn your jigs into something very close the the Zmans but with better parts.

I have never liked their hooks. Why I hated to see the lawsuit they were pushing against other companies that made a better mouse trap.

I've never had a problem with one failing on a fish. Saw an 11 caught at close range and the hook was fine.

Well I can bend it easily with two fingers, out, in, left, right it doesn't matter. It bends easier than most light wire hooks. It almost seems that this hook was not heat treated for strength.
Like I said earlier, it bends like soft aluminum wire. I have never bent any other hook as easily as this one bends.

Maybe this was just a bad one. The other 5 I have are still in the package. I haven't checked the hook on those yet.

I'm not saying they are super stout hooks, they obviously aren't. But I've never had one bend on a fish. Just my experience for what it's worth.

I lost a coup,e of fish in a tourney at Sam before I found out how soft the hook was. It must not have been tempered at all. I have used my last chatterbait. There are much better versions on the market in the same price point.
