Glass Screen with Protective Coating...you don't want to use a non-approved chemical that would eat the protective coating away.

The PRotective coating reduce glare on the screen. Water spots are due to the minerals in water and if they dry the mineral deposits are left. Best think it to keep them cleaned off during the day especially when it gets hot so the minerals don't crystalize.

i think im going to try giving them a quick cleaning every time i get off the lake instead of waiting a few days, thanks Doug for telling me the special coating is for the glare, i was thinking it was for keeping the spots off.

Wave away works well at removing them.

I been using Kroger brand glass cleaner that has vinegar in it, maybe it doesn't work as good as name brand?

The Windex is what is RECOMMENDED by Humminbird.
I see no reason to settle for less for my equipment.

the windex with vinegar is surprising to me to be safe, vinegar is very acidic. most glass cleaners also contain ammonia.

Ammonia will for sure remove the protective coating. Do not use products that contain ammonia.

I use a product called MONSTER SCREEN CLEAN. It is a safe alchohol free formula Ideal for cleaning LED, LCD, AND PLASMA SCREENS. contains de ionized water and proprietary polymers. removes water spots very easily, and doesnt let fingerprint oil stick to screen easily, (why people must touch your screen is beyond me but they do,, ha) a small bottle goes a long way. a couple squirts on a lint free cloth, then wipe screen, dont spray on screen.
