I recently caught a decent 25 pound black drum out at Seawolf park. I had the fish out of the water for 2 to 3 minutes to snap a couple photos and then I put him back in the water holding it by the tail moving back and forth to get water moving over the gills. I did this for about 15 minutes and when he was getting some life back in him i let him go only to see him go belly up seconds later. Am i missing a key step here or is that just the way it goes sometimes?

Probably had to deflate the air bladder. How deep was the fish when you caught him?

I was at the end of the pier at Seawolf Park so i figured that to be about 10-12 feet. How do you go about deflating the air bladder?
