Looking for some good places to fish.
My long time friend lives in the Oklahoma City area and I'm sorry to say his wife left him after 22 years. Well he is in the dumps so I'm going to go up there this weekend and take him out for some fishing therapy. We used to fish a lot as kids but he doesn't much anymore and doesn't know anything about kayak fishing. I've looked at the 4 lakes around OK City and I might find some good spots on Arcadia, Draper, or Canadian River. Since he has never been on a kayak I would like to take him out on a smaller body of water. Anybody here know of that area and some good spots?

stay away from draper, pretty sure its almost been completely drained to repair a water pipe for the last year, you might try lake hefner, its small, has large mouth, smallmouth, hybrids and some saugeye or walleye but its a sailboat lake so if the wind is up being in a kayak could be nerve racking. The river pretty shallow since they damn it up in 3 places downtown for rowing.

Arcadia probably be a good bet different areas to get out of the wind, more protected than Hefner

I hear Lake of the Arbuckles is a decent bass lake. It's a little south though.

Thanks guys for the info. Looks like I won't be going this weekend but anybody have more info about the local lakes and fishing then keep it coming. I will probably go up in the next week or two.

Double that on Draper. Went in September and its very low and slow. Thunderbird has been alright down by the marina for catfishing but I'm not sure about other species. I was talking to a local 2 weeks ago when I was there and he said fishing the dam on Hefner you can catch crappie, hybrids, sand bass, and walleye this time of year. He also said the river where its damed up downtown has sand bass, crappie and catfish. Theres a barge on Arcadia thats good for crappie. I think all the lakes up there are pretty low though but it's worth a try.
