I fished the Trinity last weekend and caught a couple of small ones on a red and black crawfish.

white silver/gold on my top waters EARLY AM.
action & colors resemble shad in a frenzy mode
& you can cover a lot of water in a hurry for the numbers.

see the shades of white/silver/gold (yellow) on this threadfin?

have taken good numbers of LMB on florescent colors this time of yr using spinner-baits but only after the morning top water action.
caught more NUMBERS of bass on different shades of green & yellow this time of yr shallow. these spinner skirts have good action too.

IMO watermelon n pumpkin colors are deadly too but deeper.
also nothing wrong with shades of brown or green frogs.

i think the trick is to learn how to use your baits properly.
you also have to be sneaky when fishing shallow water. confidence helps a bunch thumb Good luck
