Not doubting what the guy stated in the least. Just shocked. I'll ask some of the Yammy Team guys when I have a chance.

I would be shocked if the Yamaha, Mercury and Evinrude Team guys have to pay for their lowers if they knock one off. Granted, not all the Elite guys are Team guys. Well, the rest of the story is there are two Elite pro's at my buddy's house. The one that runs a Mercury is probably a team guy. He actually has his own television show. He is the one that said that it cost the angler $2,800 for a new lower unit. The other pro runs a Honda engine. He told my buddy that he doesn't have to pay anything and that Honda takes care of him. Again, this is what I was told. Interpret as you wish. Who is running the Honda??

Lower units are covered under your insurance. Unless you are a big name "YES" you have to pay of it, trust me i know first hand. On the Arkansas River during an open I hit a rock shelf and destroyed my lower unit. On the same spot the same day an Elite series Yamaha pro did the same. I had to pay Mercury and file with insurance. Yamaha didnt have a factory trailer there and he had to go to a dealer in Tulsa to have his replaced and had to do the same thing. Yes there is factory support but remember unless you are a KVD these guys still pay for their boats and motors and hitting a rock pile or tree isnt manufacturer defect. They will get fixed for you and get you back out there.

Should be a short weigh in. No waiting in long lines! LOL! I've seen several comments on FB about them not catching a single keeper in 2 days. GMan said he drove 150 miles on water and 280 by truck in 2 days and haven't found em. I guess he should read this TFF post....might save him some time and gas. I've seen a dozen redfish pictures! I bet they are eating good at night! Based on my experience, the fishing Thursday thru Sunday is going to be good with all the sunshine warming the shallows. There will be some nice sacks brought in but being consistent from one day to the next is going to be the key as it always is. There is the potential to weigh in good weight day one and then zero the next day because of the large amount of undersized bass in the river. But make no mistake, there are some really nice bass out there. I think some folks are going to be surprised by what they see at weigh-in. Someone will catch them...they always do. That's why these guys are the BEST!

This isn't really on topic but this thread seems to be getting the most views. Has anyone went to a launch for an elite event? I will be at work during the weigh ins, tomorrow and Friday but I thought about going out to the Ramp before work in the morning, my question is do you get to go anywhere near the pros or do you just have to stay off to the side?

Each pro is different(talkative or not). You should be able to talk to a few.

All though not advised as they will be in a hurry to get their boat ready and launched, you can get close to them at the ramp. But, with 100 of them and the process mentioned above, it will take some time. So to mix in several lookie-loos would most likely be highly discouraged by all involved. They would most likely come off to the average fan as being rude, when in fact, would just be trying to get to work. You could most certainly get within 50-60 yards of them and not disrupt their process though.

Paul Elias is the Honda guy. Interesting right there: The pic of his boat shows a Honda, but in his list of sponsors, it shows Mercury. Honda no even mentioned.

I guess he stayed with Triton but Mercury sold Triton out to Platinum Equity and he went with Honda. Anyways, it seems this Tournament is gaining alot of attention. Maybe since we are all from Texas. I don't see much on BassFan or BASS with and "decent" updates.
