I wanted to take a minute to warn the thief(s) that are buying Owner stinger hooks at the McKinney Academy, changing out the hooks on their baits, then returning the package with the old hooks for a refund......the gig is up. I notified all of their store managers of your little scam, you worthless piece of [censor]....

I have spent the past 50 years spitting in their mouths...increasing the size of Texas fish with every spit!

I had the same deal happen on two boxes of Seagar Invisix. Open the box to find H2O line that cost 2.99.

I just had to return $200 worth of winter wear that was the wrong size to academy. I paid with my debit card. The girl at customer service rung the stuff back in and asked how I paid, I told her a card. After making a bad face for about 3 minutes, she opens the drawer and gives me $200 cash, all I had to do was sign a receipt that didn't even have my name on it.

So you can see why people go to Academy to do this, its probably easy to get away with.

As long as consumers are willing to absorb the expense of this it will simply be considered the cost of doing business. Without a consumer there is no business. When you go to Academy ask them to beef up their return and security policies if this is an issue for you. What the consumer will and will not stand for is what will define the business.

If you had the receipt, she would have known your form of payment. No receipt or if you pay by gift card, you get a store credit. If she gave you cash without a receipt, she failed to follow Academy policy and procedure.

Was in Wally world the other day and same thing, owner packages with some kinda cheap catfish hooks in them..showed it to the guy working there and he said it happens all the time, make sure you always check even "sealed" boxes for the right stuff.

Think of it this way. If the fishing section keeps goin down hill you wont have to bother with academy anymore. But I do have to say thanks to tff for the warnings about academy. I havent found any of this stuff but I check everything I get there now.

I don't understand some people. Sad thing is they probably saw this post and won't do it at that academy again. Now they'll go get tripllegrips from Wally World.

Not to stir the pot, they are stealing pure and simple, this goes on because of liberal return policies. Guys on this forum go nuts when they want to return something and a store won't. It goes both ways. Who in the hell would return some of this stuff anyway? They should make sales on terminal, baits, line, etc final. Then they could pay more attention to the returns they do take.

I find it funny when guys say they cant belive a bass fisherman would do this stuff.. LOL.. Most bass fisherman especially tourney guys are in it for the money.. THey are not nice and pretty much are Ricks with a P.. I mean look at how many guys get caught cheating every year..I wouldnt use tourney bass fisherman as an example when talking about the model citizen..
