Posting this for a buddy at work. He is headed up to Fork for the first time this weekend for a guided trip on Saturday but he is dragging his boat to fish some Friday before the guided trip. He has never been to the lake before but is an experienced bass fisherman on Rayburn and Toledo. Any Fork specific tips or locations to try would be greatly appreciated as it has been his dream for decades to fish Fork. Not looking for any secrets, just a good time on the lake. Thanks for any help.

The fish are staging close to the spawning flats. Need to be flipping BIG timber near creek channels/ditches leading into the flats. There are a few areas with grass. If he finds them, cover water with a jerkbait or chatter bait. Hope this helps.

Find a cove out of the wind with as few boats as possible and get in line. Prepare yourself for the ZOO they call Spring Break at Lake Fork. It will be crazy this week and even worse this weekend but I can't think of a place I'd rather be.... Seriously, I hope you guys catch a Whale!

they are holding at the mouths of some of the smaller pockets/ coves. by the end of the week they should be making the march to the back. traps to cover water, pitch black/blue or watermelon red creatures to timber, and for the donkey pick up a black and blue jig and keep it around the edge of the creeks/ditches going into these places.

Depends on which end of the lake he wants to fish. West side, I would go to Penson creek,Birch creek, Mustang creek. Throw red traps,senkos,b/b jigs. Toward the back of Mustang after you zig zag through the front part and go thru the narrow part on the right side with trees on the left, you will come to a long point above the water that runs from the right side to about the middle where the creek is. There is a big flat on the right just before you get to that point. Circle around on that flat using the trolling motor and if there is good green grass in there, burn a red trap over that grass. If there is no grass on that flat do not waste a lot of time there.

Dude you are out of your mind. Ain't nooo way your "techno challenged friend" (sorry if that's not PC) is getting any info on my coffee spot. Seriously to the OP the lake fishes very similar to Rayburn and Toledo.
