Ok, stupid question...I know it slides up and down the line and you can fish it at any depth by moving a bobber stop up and down the line...but my question is, When you reel it up to cast it out does the bobber stop just get reeled onto your spool? I don't see how else you could cast if you were fishing it at a depth of say 20'....

Yes, the bobber stop gets reeled onto the spool.

i use 6lb main line with a 4lb breakaway, or 10lb braid with a 4lb breakaway. I dont mind losing a jig or two from time to time, but losing a cork & weight can get costly!

Thanks bud...kinda figured that would be the only way it would work...I use Abu Garcia 5000 reels and I could see that it might cause a backlash if the bobber stop has tag ends too long though.

Yea, its probably not going to work on a bait caster, may be time to invest in some spincast reels

I always found that the bobber stops that are made by eagle claw work the best in my opinion...

For the answers to this and many other questions see my Texas Sunfishing blog. The type of bobber and bobber stopper described will work with any reel. The bobber stopper will just wind on the spool when set at depths.

I think the little rubber bobber stops cast through the guides the easiest.
