Reading KVD's blog on BassMaster website about the two upcoming Texas tournaments and noticed in the comments section that John Johnston reported hearing (mind you, secondhand info) that there was a massive fish kill on Falcon about two weeks back....."hundreds of 5'-12' LMB dead and floating in the backs of creeks"......anyone else confirm such reports or occurrences?.....

...didn't sound good...

I have fished from white house to the back of Salinas and everywhere in between. I have seen no such thing.

we didn't see any dead ones last week when we were there but we damn sure didn't see many live ones either smile i did catch one giant that weighted a pound an a half. that was my only bite in 3 days.

we ran into a local that set the bass champ record there last year with 45 pounds and he can't explain what's happened but he swears the majority of the fish are gone. he says its not a matter of them not biting its that there simply not there. I live in a state with some awful lakes and terrible bass fishing but I've never experienced anything as bad as we did at Falcon. I fished Ray Bob slot and it seemed like a dream lake compared to how bad Falcon was at the start of this week.

For some reason I severely doubt that. . .

I know those guys are the best around. But if the local guides can't catch fish, some tournament guys aren't going to just come in and fill the boat, its not gonna happen.

Theres only so much pressure and netting a lake can handle.

I actually was thinking Mr Halen had started an anti-Falcon campaign, promoting the drastic drop in quality fishing, in order to decrease the massive pressure that Falcon Lake was absorbing........but I'm starting to realize that I was, and am mistaken.....though this would have been a brilliantly, diabolical plan, especially if successful.....apparently it is pretty tough down there....for real

Could it truly be from all those 12 lbers being filleted at the cleaning station. I hope this is not true because I have every intention of fishing Falcon someday. Hope this will pass.

My dad recently showed me a picture of me standing on the shores of Falcon when I was about 3-4 years old during a mission trip where my church built a church in Zapata. Would be cool to return.
