Yep this lake is terrible I use to come out there and catch great fi sh just about every time I went and now the city has taken that away from not just me but for everybody their was a tourny I remember I had 21lbs and wasnt even in the top 10 and even a couple yrs back had 30lbs in a fom wasn't much grass then either fish are to scattered for this time of the yr for 80 teams to fish and one 19 lb and a 16lb bag is all that's just terrible for this time of the yr plain abd simple don't care what's said but until the city gets there heads out there buts and lets some grass come back where the fish can concentrate in and spawn in the lake will continue to put out like this

80+ teams today. Only 2 teams weighed in over 14lbs....say what you wish....that sux! 80+ teams of fishing pressure and running 70 mph up and down a 5000 acre lake tends to do that.... You don't need grass to sight fish...

Then u must not be very gd at it and smart bc they will spawn deep if the have no grass u will find some by bost houses bc thsts only cover they have ur not just goin to go down a bank of dirt and find these fish that's one big reason the weights are down during the spawn u just don't find the quality up shallow like u use to the more cover the better the spawn and that equalls bigger sacks

For a guy that beats the rocks at Ray Hubbard, fishing Tyler was a nice break. It's a pretty lake that's easy to fish. We had a little over 16 in practice last weekend with one well over 6. Yesterday was more of the same without the big fish. We caught around 15 (only 6 keepers) with only two coming off docks. We covered a ton of water with red traps and chatterbaits. I will say this, it didn't feel crowded yesterday.

Tom, it sound like Congrats are in order for you and Dave. Way to go on a tough day of fishing! How do you like it now?
It's still not my favorite, but I'll admit I'm liking it better all the time...as long as the seven pounders keep jumping on the line. LOL. Thanks, Jeff. You and I have been in this position before and I feel just as thankful and humbled by it as we did back then.

With no grass and low water. The spawn is whats going to suffer. Low water and no grass = no place for the fry to hide and grow up without becoming a meal.

The lake is only 3 foot low. They are spawning against the maidencane grass/aka shoreline grass where the water meets the grass. I can see them, so everybody else can too. The 25 mph winds and cloud cover yesterday is what hurt the sight fishermen. But what do I know, I am just dumb....
If the ones on here pissing and moaning would spend more time out there trying to figure them out instead of whining on the TFF about grass they would be more successful on Tyler without grass.

Dont know why all the crying. It was my first time to fish the lake. Maybe years ago it was a secret lake or something. I'm sure there are plenty of good fish there to be caught. From what we saw there are a ton of fish in this lake. We caught fish every place we stopped to fish.

I told Gotta199 yesterday that I would quit my club if they chose to travel 2 hours to fish Tyler...I won't travel 10 minutes to fish there!
Congrats Tom and Dave! Way to go!

There's nothing wrong with Tyler. Yesterday was just a bad day maybe? I know for a fact of 100 fish days out there recently, can't say who, how or where, but trust me, I got to get in on some of it. I also know for a fact that the BassMaster Classic Champion Cliff Pace whacked 'em good there last fall, 60 fish or so. I know last year in a tourney at this time, my buddy had what was very likely a SAL come up and throw the bait , I had one on I couldn't turn, and generally got my butt whipped by big fish for 2 straight days. That lake is full of fish, granted there seems to be an abundance of 2-3 lbers, but overall, that lake is strong. Hopefully it doesn't kick my tail next Saturday, but in my opinion, Tyler is one of the top 3 lakes within 3 hours of DFW.
