Be very careful buying below MRP as your warranty can and will be disqualified.

Just sayin....

What circumstances would that be true?

Lots of authorized dealers sell below MSRP as common practice.

I will rephrase my statement and simply say do your homework before purchasing from anyone selling below MRP

that kind of rubs be the wrong way.. its not the consumers fault or responsibility to know or care what retailers are in compliance with thier distributors. The consumer is the end user. If Johnson outdoor entrusts a retailer to sell thier product, and they dont comply with the terms,.. then to try and hold the consumers nads to the fire as retaliation would be very poor business practice, and a loud invitation to class action lawsuits.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

How do you turn on the Ethernet after linking 2 units together? Are they supposed to automatically see that they are connected, or is there something in the settings that turns them on.

If you have somewhat current unit software, you get an Ethernet Menu when you connect the Ethernet cable.

You need to read the Ethernet manual so you will know how to set it up.
To get that, go to the Humminbird web site, select Products, then Accessories, locate one of the Ehernet cables, click on one of them and at the lower right side choose "Support" and then choose "Download Manual".

I have a question, i have a 998 on the bow of my boat with the transducer trolling motor mounted, and the gps puck is mounted on the bow,and i have a 1198 at console and i want to mount the gps puck on the rear of my boat above the transducer because i understand that the closer the gps puck is to the transducer the more accurate you can mark stuff and when i interlink them with a ethernet cord will the units use the pucks that they are connected too?

GPS receivers and transducers are plugged into the units
the same way they have been whether you use Ethernet or
not. Ethernet is simply a separate cable that communicates
information between two units.

Going to purchase the HB 598ci HD SI. I was planning to mount it on my trolling motor but was told by the man behind the counter that side imaging would not work very well when mounted there. I have a HB 565 on my console that I am happy with there and an old HB Wideside mounted on the bow with a TM transducer. Is there a problem using a trolling motor mount for the newer HB side imaging fish finders? Thanks ahead for any help!!

"the man behind the counter" doesn't know what he is talking about. I use a bow SI unit with a trolling motor mounted SI transducer all the time while fishing and just use the SI view a majority of the time.

The "problem" is the idiot you were talking to.

I would advise you to exchange the transom transducer for the trolling motor puck version XTM 9 SI 180 T. Contact Humminbird Customer Service for the exchange.
