Is Fork improving at all? Been hearing mixed reports. I try to get down there every year for a week, but skipped last year due to low water conditions and lack of grass. Planning to be there the final week of March this year and I'm curious what you all are seeing and expecting next month for the lake. In past years (when the water was up and grass was everywhere) we always did well in Birch and both Mustangs, but I'm concerned about where to find the bass in the present conditions. Any thoughts or advice is much appreciated. Good luck to you all this spring...!

Well I was there this past weekend and I came away feeling I didn't know how to fish for bass!! Finally changed over to crappie, since everyone there was talking about them, and had a good time.

tough right now, weather and wind is a factor most days.
Lake at this time is 4 feet below pool. BIG fish have been caught recently. Check out the guide reports, and the TFF, then read between the lines. My wife and I have been about 4-5 times over the winter months, some days were good (8-10 fish) some days were skunk-0,...I hear and get a good feeling for the spring and early summer..jim

Thanks for the responses everyone. I will be headed there in two weeks and planning to have a good time regardless, but it's always nice to catch a few bass in the process too. In past years I usually fish Birch, Little Mustang, Indian, and White Oak. How are these areas looking for grass and springtime pre-spawn by the end of this Month?

3241, that will be a good time to be on Fork as fish are moving slowly to spawn. a few days that keeps temp at night above 45 will really help but those fish are positioned and ready to feed right now!

Good to hear there is at least some grass in the areas I am familiar with this year. Weather outlook over the next 10 days looks like it should really begin raising the water temps up to that 58-60 degree mark. Hoping that full moon the week I will be there should ignite things even further. Though I would like to see the lake come up a little. I really appreciate the help. I only get down there once a year and boy due I look forward to it. I'd go crazy if I lived close...definately wouldn't stay married...hahaha

I live about an hour from fork and fish it often. It has been slow due to cold and wind. Even the crappie fishing has been slow. Friends found some active fish up Birch creek yesterday afternoon when the temp hit 70....spinnerbaits rolled slow past wood in 4-8 ft. A 12 lb fish was caught in a tnmt last week and an 11 was caught earlier today I hear. The lake condition is good we just need warm sunshine and it will be the fork you are looking for. You may hit it just right in late march. The creek arms will be first to get going for sure. Especially places shielded from wind. Good luck.
