Hello All,

Last year I bought the lower end Hummingbird depth finder, the duel beam. For most of the summer, it worked great, it does everything I really need. I am only in a 15' V-bottom w/25 horse. I really only need for depth & to see the contour of the bottom. Like I said, initially it worked great & was all I needed. By the end of the summer, it started shorting out & turning off & sometimes would not turn back on. I have not been back in the boat since September, but I am expecting to have to replace. I am willing to spend up to $250 on a duel beam finder, but really dont want to spend hours researching & reading reviews like I do on most items I purchase. Could I get some options of reliable Finders that you guys have & used & know they will last? I appreciate the help!

you sure it shorted out or did the battery get too low? I have 3birds on my boat and birds are all I have ever used, never a problem with any of them unless the power got too low.

the 788 is a good one, have one indash, gps capable so you can mark waypoints, has card slots so you can add a map card, internal gps, color and a good finder for the money.
the 500 series are some good units too for smaller screens/less expensive.
