Just finished my annual spring spruce up on my boat. I would like to completely wax the bottom but am at a loss as to how you can go about it. I compounded and waxed up to the trailer axels on the bottom but found it a pain to go further also the bunk boards are in the way for a complete job. Are there any detail guys that have the capability to hoist and wax or does anyone have suggestions?

I think it's the pad you're not supposed to wax.

Bad idea. It hurts your ability to turn (no bite), you will lose speed, and I once saw a boat laying on the ramp in Tuscaloosa after it slid off the bunks of the trailer because the owner had waxed the hull.

I'm not a fan of waxing the boot but I do like to keep it clean and use BBS from time to time. The boot gets no sun and really doesn't benefit from wax as does surfaces where the sun hits.
Also, I've never seen it happen but I have heard from credible sources stories of boats sliding off of trailers.
Bottomline, waxing the boot of your boat is overkill.

Guess I will just leave it as is. Good points about a complete wax of the bottom. By the way I wax the top because I purchased the boat used four years ago and it had a great deal of oxidation. Had to wet sand, compound, and then wax. I have tried the liquid type products with little success after the sanding and compounding to get rid of the oxidation.

Waxing the bottem of your boat is a good thing if you fish alot of wood and shallow cover that might scatch your hull just dont wax the pad. I wax atleast once a year before the spawn noing im going to be bumping the bottem and stumps so i want have to pay to get scratches out the wax helps the boat slide over cover just make sure its marine and it want whiten in water

thats what the strap is for in the front Some guys don't take the time to fool with the strap. They undo it in the parking lot before launching or put it on once pulled out of the water. Don't like to do it with my boat.

Mine runs 1mph faster on GPS when I wax the pad.
