A 20 footer is a great length and you'll love it on Amistad. Consider BassCat Puma, Cougar, and Eyra -- they're all great 20 footers.

Thanks. Been looking at Triton and Skeeter so far. Is there a BassCat dealer in West Texas?

Sure like my ride on Amistad. At 20' 11" it handles Big Blue's waters real well.

Yes, get a 20'+ and you will be happy. More storage, better fishability and a better ride. I am not going to turn this in "the best boat" thread, but you can't beat a Legend for that rough water!! LOL

Anyone that fish tournaments or big lakes shouldnt be running any boat shorter than 20ft and motor should atleast be 225 just my personal thoughts ive ran from a 18ft ranger with 150 to a 20 ft champion 225 now in a 21ft skeeter with 250 SHO

To be honest I would get the longest boat u can for ur budget. Skeeter zx21 21-22i fx21 all will handle better than ur standard 20ft boat. Having the extra length is a huge help when the waves are big and far apart.

I have a 19ft Ranger and I want a 21 or 22 foot boat. I will say that I've been pleased with how well mine takes on rougher water. I've never been in anything really hairy with it but I was cruising across what I believe were 2-3 footers the other day with hardly a bounce.
I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

Try and go as big as possible. Up North we run lake Ontario and Lake Erie, and it gets bad. Been in 8 and 10 footets not cool, make sure what you get your happy with.

Agree with the others, bigger is better. I'm fishing out of a 21' boat now and can really tell an improvement over my old 18 footer.

I went from a 17' Nitro with a 90 on the back to a 20' Skeeter with a 200 on the back...man what a difference!! The wider front deck makes it sooooooo much easier to work the boat on the TM in rougher waters...I fished it when we had winds at 35mph and gusting to 50 a couple of weeks ago

Champion 223 elite! There is no better ride in my opinion and I strictly fish Rayburn and have complete confidence in that boat!
