My boat had to do double duty as a ski boat this weekend at PK. My stainless steel prop came out looking like it had been stained in milk. A stiff platic brush and some diswashing detergent didn't really do the trick. Washing the boat afterward, I could still feel a coating of grime on the gel coat. What do you guys do to clean your boat after a trip to PK? Nice looking lake, but seems like the water would be hard on the equipment.

clove I use that Dry Wash 'N Guard that Redfin suggested to me on here. He could tell you all about it.... It works really well on my boat.... I just need something to clean the prop and the lower half of my motor with. They are both rough from grime and stuff. Haven't found anything that works yet. I can make them look clean but if you get close you can still see the grimy looking stuff on there.

Hey Progator, That grime is mineral deposits from the hard (and salty) water in PK. Texoma will do it too, just not as bad. Use Lime Away or X-13 to get it off your prop. You may need to follow up with some polishing compound and a bit of elbow grease. Good luck!

I have been trying different things to clean the stains from the floor of my boat and some have lifted it a little but I tried a product this weekend that is the best bar none. Star Bright Instant Hull Cleaner at Wal-Mart. Applied a little to the white floor fo my C.C. boat, let it set for 3 minutes and rinsed. Brother the floor of my boat hasn't been this white since I pulled it off the showroom floor. Mixed 1 once with my soap water and washed the rest of my boat. It is what it says, Instant Hull Cleaner.

I have stayed away from Star Brite ever since I bought their tarp conditioner, it is supposed to restore waterproof properties to the tarp. It also said it wsa great for any type of cloth and I had some gloves that I was also needing waterproofed, so I tried it on them first. I would have been afraid to stand with in 50' of an open flame after treating the gloves. They smelled like I had dunked them in gas. I put them in a charcoal bag to get rid of the smell and three weeks later they still smelled like gas. I threw them out and expected to hear that the local dump had caught on fire. I was sure glad I tested it on something before I put it on my tarp. I have used Star Brite wax products before so I may try the hull cleaner, but if it has a petrolium smell, forget it!

Star Brite hull cleaner does not have a petroleum smell, Clove. It will clean the heck out of a boat, just like High Tech says. But I'm not sure it will shine a stainless steel prop that's been grimed up in PK.

Go to the lumber yard and get a jug of muratic acid. Mix it with water, about 75% water . then brush it on or better yet get a sprayer and spray it on. all hard water deposits will smoke and dissolve. Rinse thoroughly. Will not harm painted or jellcoate surfaces. It will stain a galvenized trailer and is not good on concrete. Dont get it on you and the fumes will really burn your eyes. Your prop and lower unit will look like new. Capt. Steve www.txfishingguide.com
