I've heard this floating pier at cranesmill on canyon lake is finally repaired and open agian. Has anyone been by there no if this is true ? If so how's the fishing been there lately? I'm hoping to go out there Saturday nite stay all nite and try for some crappie/white bass. I've done we'll there this time of year in the past at nite. But don't want to make the trip if its not open yet. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

I've heard it's now gated and not open at night.
Can anyone varify this?

I heard it has been closed due to water level and will not open until the water level comes up.

The man at the RV park entrance told me they had to start closing it at NIGHT due to all the constant vandalism.
Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

The man at the RV park entrance told me they had to start closing it at NIGHT due to all the constant vandalism. For over 40 years that dock has been there and there have always been some law enforcement presence as in a deputy would patrol through there making the rounds. I wonder what changed over all those years? Seems with nobody around since it's closed and locked that would give the vandals even more reason to break a lock and tear the place up. Just my opinion as it doesn't make much sense, and our taxes haven't gone down for less services.

Rite on. Over been fishing there at nite for the better part of 18 years. All nite long and I've never been there and not had the sheriff pass atleast once at nite or ever come down to see how the bites been. I've even had gamewardens come at 2am bfor to surprise check. So yea what has changed? If I can still fish it I will this weekend. If I can't get on there at nite does anyone no of another pier that's accessible at nite in that area?

Only place I know of that has a fishing pier is at the FT. Sam joint base recreation center near the dam. You have to be active duty, retired, or DOD, or retired DOD to use it though. I'd sure like to know the reason they closed the pier. If that is truly the case then the vandals have won, and law abiding citizen has to pay the consequences....That's as wrong as two left feet! That is the problem today! It's easier to just give in, than to hold those who do wrong responsible for their actions.

Is this pier worth fishing from a boat?

If its closed then yes tie off on it at night would be good. But if its open u can't bcuz they frown about bieng to close with persons on the pier. It's a good area there right off the main lake river channel with slack water from the current with a point that sticks out next to the pier. I've drifted by with my John boat bfor and green light done ok in the past.

Well I drove by the pier this evening and confirmed that the cranesmill pier is closed due to low water. So is the boat ramp at cranesmill park. The marina boat ramp is still open from what I can see during daylight hours 10$ access fee. I spoke with a guy who sent me to boat ramp #8 a cove away from cranesmill marina. And it's public free access and nice but small parking area. And the lake is only 4" higher than the white line on the ramp that closes when water levels reach the white line. So long story short we need to pray for rain. I have to renew my trailer plates so I can take my boat out sooner than I planes no choice now it looks like. No complains bout that thou.
