THE anglers were dealing with more than in most carp events.

On Friday evening and most of Saturday the barometer was over 30.
The wind was blowing at a steady 25 with higher gusts.

On Saturday Bass Champs held a big tournament with 221 teams.
They recently went from a 5 to a 3 fish creel. Half of the teams blanked. These are mostly not amateurs.

And unfortunately because of the time of the year many were bank fishing which created a few conflicts.

From what I saw the anglers competing in the 44 did an excellant job staying on course for what they were there for in those elements.

The biggest buffalo came with 5 minutes to go on Sunday. Had this event run longer or had better weather for buffalo to feed I believe the results may well have topped 2012.

The last thing Jason said before the end of the awards was next year lets have a 77.

With Texas weather the way it runs a 77 would give a much better shot of hitting some good weather.

Anglers on my pegs were from Hungery, Romania, Italy, South Carolina, Indiana, England (living in Texas), Oklahoma and Texas.

Congrats to Austin Anderson and Shane Hine on the carp big 4 in peg 36.

Marshall pegs 35-43.

I had a great time at this event despite the weather. Even though I was in the majority that blanked, I will say the event was extremely well run. The land owners were great, the tournament directors were great, and the Lake Fork Sportsman Association was great. It truly was a top notch event, especially for the duration of the event (Thursday through Sunday). I can't say enough about how welcome we felt and the hospitality - from allowing us to leave our trash bags for disposal at the gate to asking if we needed water or giving us goodie bags. The portapotties were also a nice touch smile So thanks to all who put it on and opened up to us and to everybody who cleaned up after themselves when they left so we can go back again for years to come!

Well sir. Ive saved my money since last april for the gear, rigs, utilities, food and travel expenses for both atc and tx44. I have blanked in both tourneys but gained so much in more knowledge old friends new friends. I did not go to those events throwing cash makin' it rain. I am not rich nor broke. After reading your post with an hour sleep and two back to back tourneys. This made totally loose my respect for you. For the guys who toughed it out and sacrificed their time, money knowledge and emotions. I salute you and i can not wait to share the bank with you guys.
Joseph it did'nt seem he had any disrespectful intentions.Seems he has a lot of interest in the tournament.

It didn't come out of nowhere. It came out of 43 hours and 55 minutes of constant baiting, hard fishing and endurance. It's a 44 hour endurance event, not a "show up for the last 5 minutes" event.

Every angler that competed has my utmost respect. They didn't show up to a park and fish for the day. They put money, effort, dedication, hard work and a lot of real effort and determination into fishing at Fork. They don't have time to chatter online about how they're feeling along the way. And that's even if they have a few moments of intermittent internet service in some very patchy terrain. And as for the disrespect and moaning by some about not having regular updates - unbelievable! You have no clue about the work that goes into these events, the difficulties and logistics of checking in constantly with 80 anglers over a broad distance and 4 sections, some sections 5 miles long across several peninsulas... and the organizers and weigh marshals that VOLUNTEERED their time to keep this tournament running. And that's not even including the many months of preparation, fund-raising, organizing and more that goes into this and the support of the local community. Perhaps next year you can volunteer to help, or compete, or come along and watch, instead of sitting at home griping about how you're not kept up to date.

In the time since I started carp fishing I have never felt so welcome by a group of people, hats off the oakridge , the land owners and all that helped to put that great event together.

Sure it was cold, the fish did not cooperate but did not matter, I had a blast.

I got quite a few phone calls I could not take due to being so busy building my swim and whatnot, doing a live feed would have been impossible.

I should rephrase that Scouser . They came from out of nowwhere in the points.Certainly didnt intend to take away from their accomplishment's at the tournament.I thought it was the most amazing finish There were a lot of us that enjoyed this tournament even though we chose not to fish it.I only mean't to give the highest of compliment's to Ryan.Your comment sounds as if you are looking very hard to find something to argue about.
