Hey guys,

I am headed out to explore a new river this weekend. I am going to hit up the Neches above Lake Palestine.

Should I take my kayak or just plan on wade/bank fishing?

This water is new to me so any fly tips or other comments would be greatly appreciated. I am going site unseen.

Anywhere to camp?

I am hoping to find some sandies.

I will post a report when I return.

there's a campground going thru chandler;hard to give directions; ask in chandler; new parking area on the north side of the highway(31), west side of the river; bank fishing is good but harder with a fly rod; very muddy; wading is tough; kayak good; landing on south side of the bridge just out of chandler. Also, go south towards Poynor and about 2 miles out are three bridges; kickapoo landing is on the south side of those bridges; you can launch a kayak there or anywhere you can get near the water; fish are ganged up in holes along the kickapoo in that area-p-
