I've got a Ambassadeur 5600 BCX that has a bad worm gear. By the time I get the part and have it shipped along with new pilot guide I'm gonna have $20 in it. I know now that these reals are made in China and aren't near the quality as the ones made in Sweden. Is this reel worth fixing or am I just gonna have to fix it again in 6 months?

use it as a trotline weight.
most reel techs wont even bother to repair them.

+1 on Caribou.
Abu ought to be ashamed to have even offered those peices of junk for sale.
10 in a burlap sack make a great drift anchor.
Keep the handle and throw it away. The handle is the only decent part of that reel.
