GRAPEVINE, TX

The Bass Pro Shop Grapevine Series kicked-off the 6th season in celebration of the BPS "Spring Fishing Classic" today on Lake Grapevine. A total of (51) boats and (100) anglers competed on a very cold day but that didn't stop some impressive sacks from crossing the stage. BPS Grapevine Series veterans Dave Jaurez and Steve Holtman dominated the field sacking an impressive 19.89 limit which included a 8.07 kicker to take the $1500.00 "trifecta" (1st Place - BIG BASS - Jackpot). Britt Lequie and Derrick Thompson slid into the number two spot with 15.62. Steve Tigert and Scott Pomykal took third with their 14.40 limit. James Adams teamed up with Barrett McClendon to take fourth with 13.09 which was anchored by their 6.92 fatty which also took runner up BIG BASS honors. Rounding out the top-five was Clay Shipe and Brandon Dillard with 13.06.

Looks like Dillard/Shipe wasted all their fish during practice days so they could post pics and brag on the TFF. Oops..

they did a good job finishing 5th of 51 teams.

But the way they talk, you would expect them to win everything out there.

Highlight of the day was the 90 seconds between when i hooked and landed a 20 lb buffalo carp when i thought there was a slim chance i had the bass of a lifetime on my line when it counted.

BTW, thought I heard you say there might have been a lake record spotted bass caught today. How did that pan out?

Thanks Scott looking forward to Lewisville. Didn't think our 15.62 would take 2nd. You run a good, fare, and efficient tournament. We will be there for all of them.

I think anyone that had fish today did a good job today was tough for sure. I was very happy to finish 12th out of 50 plus teams. Congratulations to the top ten for cashing a check. Also Scott the weight in was very fun will try to fish some more with you guys this year.

I have not heard what the status of that spotted bass yet.
The spot weighed 3.56 on my scale and we recommended that the bass be certified using the certified marine scale inside BPS. I was still in the middle of weighing bass to follow up. I will try and determine the result and let you all know.
