I purchased a Sage One fly rod last week from one of the big sporting goods stores DFW. I went to register my rod on the Sage website and the serial number is not "opposite of the Sage logo on the butt section" as the website says it should be. I am sure I am looking at the right place, but there are no numbers, other than the logo, on the butt section.
If anyone can give me some advised I would appreciate it.
I just hope I did not purchase some kind of fake rod that was returned and the store did not realize it.

It's also supposed to come with a registration card that has a sticker with the serial#. Usually it's wrapped around the rod with the rod sock.

Many of my older Sage rods have serial numbers in fine black script that appear "imbedded" under the coats of finish and are really only visible when held at an angle in sunlight or under a strong lamp. Don't have a Sage One, so I can't say whether that is the case with them.

No serial number? Someone had better notify the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Flypoles. This could be one of them-there assault rods I've heard so much about. I'll bet it even takes down into smaller pieces so you can sneak it on an airplane to terrorize fish in other locales. Shameful.

They are usually in really thin, black script somewhere opposite of the model info. My tcx is really clear but my xi is almost unreadable. Depends on the color of the rod. All the high end ones have sn's as far as I know.

With the Sage ONE, since it is a black rod, the serial # is VERY difficult to see!!! I promise it is there!! I have sold dozens of these rods, and nearly ALL customers cannot find the number!! I will usually take an LED flashlight, typically white or blue in color, and look for it with that. It helps show the number!! Hope this helps!!
