I can't stand split grips, the back nob snags my clothes. The one that I own a Shimano Crucial Drop Shot rod has a longer than normal handle and is very frustraiting to roll cast with. Full cork all the way.

Sometimes the "back nob" can attach itself to something that produces a little excitment but usually do not have a problem with them. I seem to be more accurate using them and 1 hand casts.

Most of my rods are split grips. I don't see any major differences when switching between them.

I don't like the split grips if the handle is longer than 13.5 i think it gets A bit clumbsy to me. I do think they balance better, as blanks get lighter you gotta lose weight somewhere else to maintain the balance.

I use split grips and full grips. They both feel fine to me. I like the new handles on the Kistler KLX they are after than normal and more ergonomic so they seem to grip better than my duckeets

When the bare part of the rod on the split grips bumps my phone I always think I'm getting a nibble. Otherwise, not much difference to me.

I'm pretty indifferent on the subject. I've probably got 1 split grip for every 2 full handles I have. I dont think it makes a difference.

Split grips are just a fad, sort of like micro guides. Full rear cork with no foregrip is what works for me. What infinitesimal amount of weight saved by the split grip is located behind the reel which simple physics tells us that this moves the balance point forward. This is counter intuitive to light feeling rig. In essence the split grip is just a cosmetic fad.

Most of mine are split grips but I don't see that they make any difference one way or another.

Cork has gotten outrageously expensive in the last few years. It is no coincidence that split grips became popular about the time that cork prices were starting to double. I build rods either way. I carry both and switch back and forth--and weight behind the reel seat is not a bad thing--although cork doesn't weigh enough to make much difference anyway.

I'm no builder but I't seems to make sense to me. Why have cork there if you're not using it? Especially if it keeps cost down. As far as weight you have the cork and the epoxy removed. Also over time I'd imagine dirt and moisture would make it even heavier being it's porous? May be just an ounce or so but we pay good money for the lightest blanks and guides we can.

I was always told the ideal fulcrum would be at the reel seat so when you keep shaving weight above the seat it would make sense to remove some from below as well no?

I'm not selling my full cork rods anytime soon but I think split grip is here to stay.

I have very large hands and love my split grips. My falcon amistad has plenty of cork behind the reel

Hate the way they feel and feel is most everything in fishing. They are something new to get those of us addicted to fishing and wanting to keep up the the Jones'(pro's), to buy. Bought one and after playing the yard with it took it back and got 2 cheaper all cork handled rods in exchange, They have better feel for me than the one split grip I tried.
