Taking kids to whitney next weekend for spring break and would like to catch some sandies. We are camping at McCowan Valley and would like any tips on where to fish and how far it is by boat to get to kimball bend? Not familiar with this lake at all so I appreciate any tips you can give me to put these boys on some fish. Thank you!

Been awhile since I've been to Whitney, but there used to be campsites at Kimball's Bend also. That would shorten your "strike zone"

Check with the guys at Team Redneck. I am sure they will steer you in the right direction. Last I heard they were on them.

These guy are right. Putting in at Kimball will save plenty on the run north to the Brazos, not to mention the amount of timber you would have to avoid between White Bluff and Kimball. My buddy's parents live on the lake and he said that they are starting to move up-river. Good luck.

I believe Kimbell is $18 a night for 30 amp service. That is all they have. No fifty. Plowmans has 50 amp but they are $20.

Dbat I have been cacthing Sandies at Hamm's Creek . Just find some rocks on the bank and use a 1/16 roadrunner and reel as slow as you can hope this helps .
P.S. and you would be all better off putting in at Kimble or Hamm's if you don't know the river.

Just pitch and Grind you never know when you are going to get LUCKY !!!!!!!!

From McCowan your near some awesome white bass fishing. Have to use your electronics and look along the channel edge in 30 to 50' of water. They are spawning on the main lake and were catching lots of Whites, males as big and fat as the females whites. Just get you a map and look at ledges and edges out from McCown and humps in that area. Been dead sticking chartreuse slabs. A little shiny halographic on the slab helps. wink Good luck.

If we got some run off from the rain and made flow in the rivers Brazos and Nolan they should go ahead and run up into the skinny water. Looks like the rest of the week were having awesome weather!!!
