My buddy just got a PA 14 and I am helping him rig it this weekend. For you Hobie guys....how do you rig the dog leash drag chain on your boats. Pics would be good.
Thanks for any help....and by the way, I want a PA really bad now.

Why do you need a drag chain when you have the Mirage Drive?

I have a PA 14 and bought an anchor in the beginning thinking it will come in handy. So far, I have yet to use my anchor. I would strongly suggest a 36" drift chute instead.

Lee Those LMB boys fish more structure so they need to keep their position. Unlike drifting for Bar Fish...

A drag chain can come in handy at times. I only use one if I am trying to move down the bank and the wind is blowing too strong. I don't use it as much now in my Mariner since I have reverse but I would think it would come in handy in the mirage drive since you can't easily peddle in reverse to slow yourself down. I guess you could turn around and face the wind and peddle forward. But then you are probably casting into the wind.
To answer the OP, I don't have a PA but I just run mine through the anchor trolley and set it all the way back. The line is then tied off to a cleat.

My PA14 ain't bad to move around.

Does the standard Hobie cart work on the PA? I have one for the wife's Quest and it would be nice to be able to use it for the PA also when I bring it home.

I know the cart fits all the mirage drive boats. I think it does for the quest also.
Good luck, Phill

Drag chains work great on Hobies including the PAs. Get a few more extra links/length than you think if you fish strong wind or current. I love drag chains for drifting shallows and picking apart structure as I stand and fish. Easier to use than drift chutes once deployed. Clip on to your anchor trolley and start casting.
Galvanized links and stainless carabiner with a 1/2" rope.
Works for me.
