A friend of mine asked me to fish a tourney with him at the end of April at this lake. Never been there, looks deep and clear from navionics and google maps. Anyone have advice for late April on this lake?
Much appreciated.

It is a super, super clear lake. In late April I would focus on Bee Creek and Otter Creek. Possibly fish the Sand Springs bend area off the river channel. Holly Creek further up north is also a good area during this time. Also all off the main lake islands in pockets protected from the north wind would be an area to throw a suspending jerk bait. I like the Xcalibur Edwin Evers jerk bait personally. Throw a texas-rigged 6" Zoom chartreuse lizard to pick up a limit of spotted bass quick @ the Sand Springs Bend area. The previous state record pictured below was caught in Bee Creek in March of 99'. Catch one like him and go cash a check!!

Any secondary point with a 1/4 hula grub watermelon red! Bubble gum fluke works real well that time of the year there also!

hula grub in smoke pepper or gitzit in same color. Finesse jigs work well and definitely fish Bee and Otter creeks.

Carolina Rig and Fat Albert Grub by Zoom in Glimmer Blue with the tail dipped in Spike It and hang on, between the largemouth, Kentucky's and even a walleye or two this bait seems to always catch fish. Have fun Broken Bow is a great lake.

Fish, April is a great time to fish Broken Bow. The lake is full of pockets off of the main lake and full of pockets in the creeks as well. These all can be good in April. I like to throw white ice flukes in these pockets and around trees that have fallen in the water. I like to throw flukes, yellow magics and shaky heads and small mojo rigs. Green pumpkin seems to work great. Have also caught them on rip baits that float like the original bang o lure. Also like to fish main lake points on the river. The big bend areas. The spawn might be over although some might still be on bed. You can see them in the pockets if you have good sunglasses. Also, have caught yhem on 1.0 KVD cranks in crawdad and sexy shad colors. You should not have trouble catching 5 when your there. The winner will have some or all largemouths. Tons of Kentuckys but they will not weigh as much as the largemouths. You can catch largemouths on what I am telling you. I have caught nice smallmouth there also but most have come from otter creek toward dam. I like to fish otter and bee and bull creeks as well as linson creek. There are to many pockets and points in those creeks to fish in a day! I will be down there the first week in april and if you come down I will show you around. I also own a cabin there that I rent. You can check it out at www.hickoryhillcabins.com. The name of my cabin is buck n bass and you can see cabin there. Let me know if I can help. Pat 214 620 9407.

If u can find any blaze orange flukes, bring em. I was there the end of march last year and smashed em on it. Others were catchin a few on white ice and bubble gum but not like they were eating the orange one. I can't find em anymore. Dont even know where i got the ones i had but if you have any they are worth there weight in gold.

I've been fishing BB since 1970 and it is still one of my favorite lakes. Late April is 90% post spawn fishing. Pray for cloudy days. Early and late use small cranks like the Bandit 100 or KVD 1.5 Square Bills. As the sun gets high go to the grubs and fish them down to 15 feet on points. I like the points at the mouth of Otter Creek on the North side. Bee and Otter are good but are popular and lots of boats on tourney weekends. I like the river above Sand Springs Bend with dozens of points that fall off into the river channel. Trick worms Texas rigged in the Red Bug color works good on steep bank coves but don't bother to go further than a third of the way into the coves. I have a tourney in late April at BB myself. Good luck.
