ok guys i just got all new lowrance electronics. i have lowrance hds 8 gen2. im putting it on a 1998 skeeter zx202. everything is all hooked up except the structure scan transducer. im curious to the best mounting place. the boat also has a 12inch jack plate. any help is much appreciated.

If you have a hole shot plate I suggest it as a good mounting place.

You should be able to see some mounting pics at the Lowrance forum at bassboatcentral.com

I always recommend a person to call a dealer that deals with the boat manufacture you have and get there advice. They always know best especially if they have now installed many over the past years.

people will say that installing it inside the jackplate with a long bolt using the hole in JP. I ended up installing the Transducer Shield and Saver JP bracket for the Skeeter JP. It's not cheap ~ $300 for everything, but it works and get's low enough in the water to avoid any interference from the sponson on the side scan settings..

Here's the video of the Install... I also recommend the EXTENSION L Bracket to get it lower. They will help you if you call them.
