I have a boat with a 2004 Evinrude 225HO an it looks to have a flip down motor toter built onto it. Does anyone have any experiences using this and what are your thoughts. I have always used a standard transom saver. Thanks

That will support the motor, the only potential problem is the anlge at which the motor has to be at for it to work. It sometimes puts too much pressure, angle of bend, on the control cables and wiring harness going into the motor.

Don't most motors have the flip down bracket? I know most of the ones I have owned do, I would still use a transom saver or equivalent. If you just use the factory bracket the weight is still just hanging on the transom. It is also hanging higher up with the bracket putting more stress on the transom, just my opinion.

Normally they are not trailering.

The brackets on the ETEC are made for trailering. States it in the motor manual.
I've used them on my 250 HO for 3.5 years without problem. Use these brackets to keep the motor from turning.

Good info and yes the manual gives ok to use the E-TEC 225HO traiering bracket going down the road. Just be aware there is also a small support bracket also on this model for placing the lower unit up and out of the water when the boat is in a marina.

Make sure to use the big E-TEC trailering bracket , and not the small one.

I have a 2000 Johnson 225, and have never had any problems going down the highway with it!
