Is there any relation to the nutrients in the soil/ sediment of lakes and the size of Bass? I am new to the forum and use to do studies on antler growth of whitetail deer and found this to be true especially in South Texas!

Go to Falcon and then try and explain why there is NOT a relationship! Those fish are mean, fat, narley, gangsta and those are just the 3 lbers!!!! Physically there are NO Bass that compare to their strength, power and feriocity and that's after you get them in the boat!!!

Squaw fish fight much harder than Falcon fish in my opinion.

and you haven't tried the rio grande at Salineo Tx which is about 8 minutes from the dam at Falcon. Those fight even stronger!

The success of Fork has often been partially contributed to the "rich" run off of the surroundings area because of the large number of dairy farms around the lake. Causes nutrient rich waters which help the entire food chain starting with the zooplankton and up.

I used to live in an area where the further up the block you went the tougher the folks were that lived there.

Been to Falcon, many many times and I would agree! This was more or less aimed at lakes that are not in south Texas like Dunlap, Austin, Ivie, Fork, Toledo and Rayburn, most of them ShareLunker, just wondering?

I would think Falcons fish have a longer growing season due to warmer climate. Plus it's less pressured since it far away from everywhere except San Antonio. JMHO

Back in the day, a Monticello 3-4lber was a hard fighting fish. I've fished Squaw and Falcon but Moticello stands out for me.

Agree with the Monticello fish. Most folks will laugh when you say fish fight harder in one place more than another but I'm a true believer. Experienced the same thing among different species of fish over many years to come to that conclusion. No scientific study but I would guess the presence of moving water is the most important factor. Don't know if it causes oxygen rich fuel to fight or if its the work out factor of being better conditioned. In the comparison with bass it seems the bass act more like smallies.
