Ive decided against a powerhead just because I would like to find a used takeoff or new motor with some warranty. Thanks for the websites above I will check them out.

I can tell ya that if these guys build one or ronnie builds one (texas machine works in grand prairie) they will be top notch.

hydro tec does yammiejammers and ronnie is the mercury guru, either one would do you right on a rebuild imo.

Be very, very careful there. Tha folks on it have really changed tha last few years....I just bought a "pristine" high performance tiller arm (supporting vender). Took it outta tha box, dropped it on tha floor. Looked like I put a firecracker in a box of crackers when tha "rust" settled. It seems ta be gettin' worse than ebay lately! Do your homework............
Pard I think you can say that about anywhere. Just use some common since and check the seller out.

Had a 3L 250XB Merc done cost 4600.00 including new set of injectors and freight both ways + it had a hole in the block. Called Ronnie and they quoted 6900.00 just for rebuild.

Ronnie quoted me 4000 on my Yamaha and that was welding up the powerhead, I bought a new to me powerhead and had them freshen it up and saved some money. Prices do vary from place to place and motor to motor, I found several places cheaper after I got mine done. Overall I'm happy with what I spent and the way my motor runs and that's what matters. I thought really hard about getting a newer used motor when mine blew, but if your buying used how long will it last? That's what worried me if I might be in the same position in a year or two. I decided a rebuild and knowing exactly what I had was a better decision for me. I sure you can find a good used motor in your price range.

Could you go up to a 250xs?

call ronnie at texas machine works in grand prairie, ask him what a rebuild upgrade to 250hp runs, it might surprise ya how much cheaper it is than new or used.
