Howdy,

I recently graduated from A&M and moved out to San Angelo, TX for graduate school. I rarely get the chance to fish anymore with my schedule, other than going to Nasworthy or to the San Saba River once every few weeks. Fortunately I have some time off school coming up here in a couple of weeks (3/11 - 3/15), so of course I want to go fish!

I am thinking about going out to O.H. Ivie. I have never been out to Ivie before so I have NO idea what to expect:
Areas to launch
Cost to launch
General patterns/baits (not looking to mooch - just have no clue about the structure/cover, typical color of water, typical water temp this type of year, etc.)
Anything that may be of concern to me being out there for my first time (safety, areas to avoid, etc).

I know this is a bit of an open-ended question but any advice and information whatsoever would help out! Thanks!

Areas to launch: There are 3 ramps and so far that is the only place to launch. Kennedy Park (Elm Creek Village), Padgitt Park, and Concho Park.

Cost to launch: $5.00 via stand at ramps or at Elm Creek Desk. Cost is for Lake/Park Access for the day use charge from CRWMD.

General patterns/baits: Hard to say whats going on in March. I would expect early stages of spawn, males will be shallow, females shouldn't be to far behind

structure/cover: Rocks, Points, Timber, Flooded Cedars.

typical color of water: Stained to clear.

typical water temp: I would call Elm Creek Village and Jerry will tell you that. I spoke to him a few weeks ago and temps were mid 50's at the ramp. Fishing was tough, but Ivie can be like that at times.

I would recommend Starting at kennedy Park, (elm creek Village) there is plenty of good water near the ramp.

O.H Ivie Is one of my all time favorite lakes!! If it gets tuff throw the C-Rig off rocky points in the creeks in deeper water. Thats a C-Rig lake if I have ever seen one. Just my 2cents.

There's plenty of places to fish out of the elm creek launch... It's a great looking lake, even if it fishes tough from time to time... The big fish at our tourney last October were in Bull Hollow Branch, which is straight across from that launch. I personally went into the river east of there during the tourney and while it wasn't the place to be that day I'm betting that area is good when the spawn fires up soon...

Umm, I may be reading this wrong, but this lake looks to be 35 feet low?

Even at 35 ft low. They got a good bump last fall and there is still some flooded cedars.
