I used to swear by a triple surgeons knot, mainly because it was fast and easy to tie, never did lose too many fish because of knot breaking, I did notice that every time I would get hung and have to break the line it would break at the knot. Well I did some research and have found the knot, pretty sure several on here use it, the Alberto knot is the shnizzle, it goes through the guides better and will not break at the connection.

Yes it does indeed make for a better knot.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Been using it for about 3 years tying 10# Fireline to 8# fluoro on my crappie rods. I finally broke one line to leader knot last year. Before that I broke a Dobyns on something big and mean that hit a crappie jig in a brush pile, never saw the fish but I suspect a big flathead, the leader knot held.

Changed from the surgeons knot to the Alberto last year and love it.
