I have seven All Star and Seven Falcons. Like both. The newer All Star are not the some as the older one. Still like GLX the best.

I've caught lots of fish and big fish with them. I did break two last year...one trying to get what turned out to be a huge grinnel out of bushes and the other when my partner stepped on it. In fact both happened on the same day about 45 minutes apart. Uh oh...

I think they are good rods for the money.

Used to use them exclusively back in the 90's and never had any complaints. Have had a few of the newer ones and they seem OK, just don't have the confidence in them that I did the older ones. Now days I have a smorgas board of different brands. If you have an all-star, fish it till it breaks or you find something better.

I have an older wr1 rod and a new team series 7' mh. I love the old rod and the new one seems pretty good as well for the money.

WRONG........

Academy only has rights to the name for the $50 model, all the others are made by Pure Fishing. Go to the Pure Fishing webpage.

Academy has the rights to all of them trust me. Go to allstarrods.com and click on dealers and see who the only dealer is.

I like the new green all stars ,however I've had to return one because the screw down reel seat broke. The guy said they've had a lot returned with same issue.

I know well who owns Purefishing. I also know you can't buy an all star anywhere but Academy. They are still on the purefishing website and the allstar rods website by agreement. I also know one of the national sales managers for Purefishing, a very close friend for about 20 years. They still are on the website yes but they are imported by Academy on a contract with Purefishing.
Go to Bass Pro or Cabelas or any other site and try to buy an All Star. They are only available at Academy.

I have a few of the older ones. Don't use them a lot but they are good rods. The main reason I don't use them are they are application specific and I just don't use these applicaitons very often. Topwater, finesse, and glass CB.

Bought my first All Star a few weeks ago. I paired it with a Lew's Tournament Pro. I was really surprised at how light it felt in my hands and I was able to cast a weightless fluke a long damn way. Can't speak to their durability but I was pleased with its performance.

I have a Largemouth at home....sometimes she lets me go fishing.

A little off Topic, but the guys that used to run AllStar when they were in their prime(Brett Crawford and Bob Brown) now have Tour Star Rods....They even have the WR1 and now a WR2 that everyone loved in the All Star line up, as well as many other similar actions and blanks....I know this doesnt entirely answer your question, but definately a great option if you are an "old-School" All Star fan

Good rods. Really like their cranking rods. But their actions are stiffer than others.

Allstar used to be owned by Morgan Mccain and then Brett Crawford, which is when they were made here in Texas. Back then they were really good rods and I had about 10 of them and they wered all my dad fished with, (IM10X T38, Platinums, etc), but since Crawford sold out, the quality has gone way down IMO. I now fish with Castaways. They're great rods for the price, great company to work with, and they're localy made here on Conroe.
