Can you guys help me out? Looking to take my wife and two kids(5,10) down to the coast. Just looking for something simple. We normally stay at bayfront cottages in Rockport. Simple room and a private pier. I'm coming from San Antonio. Anywhere along the coast is fine. Would prefer the bay of course. Thanks you

Usually every year my wife and I meet up with our kids and grandkids and rent a house on the beach at Port Bolivar. Some very nice houses and its your choice to pick beachfront, bay, or canal. We have done beach front and canal. Here is the link. Beach Bay Rentals

Life is one big playground. Be sure to ride all the rides before it closes.

I little more info would help. When are you going? What all do you like to do fish, beach, etc..? Do you have a boat that you are taking with you? Are you trying to this on the cheap, or do you have a bit to spend.

Generally, I would recommend Corpus. Stay out on the island, maybe on the beach, but for sure on a canal. Lots to do in Corpus, state aquarium and the Lexington and all. You can fish the surf, the pass or the bay.

Check http://www.vrbo.com/ for places to stay.

Sorry guys. We are looking to go down and fish march 7th. Would like specs and reds. Normally just fish off the private pier of a hotel. Would like stay in the $100-$150 a night range. We normally would just go to Rockport, but that weekend is oysterfest.

I'll stand by my recommendation of Corpus. Hopefully the weather will be warm for you and you can to the beach. The aquarium is entertaining for that age group. Mine are 8 and 6 and they loved it.

Lots of places to fish. surf, packery channel, bay side pretty much anywhere you can get to the water. If you have a 4x4 and are adventurouse you could drive down the Padre Island National Seashore (PINS).

You will have plenty of company though, that's the first weekend of Spring Break.
