This weekend my trolling motor started working intermittenly. I checked all the connections and everything is tight. The switch was replaced about a year ago so don't think it is that. Any suggestions on what else to check? Thanks.

Does it have a breaker that could possibly be kicking it out til it cools off and resets itself?

I had a maxxum that was acting the same way. I noticed that if I bumped the motor it would work for a while and then I would have to bump the motor again. It was caused by a burn spot on the armature. My Minn Kota tech new exactly what it was when I called him; he buffed the armature and put it back together and it still works today. Very simple fix.

Haven't tried bumping it but will. Sounds like when a dropped an anwsering machine and broke it but dropped it again and fixed it. Was it an inexpensive fix?

if the armateur has a bad spot in it, it will work like described above.
they are not expensive to replace.

Just like Steve said, cheap and quick fix.
