Has anybody experienced your unit shutting off soon as you turn it on? I have 2 998c just purchased about 2 months ago but the one on the trolling motor keeps shutting down. Any suggestions before I send it to Humminbird?

So I need to check my battery first? The one at the console never turns off and they are running off the same batt. Well it just might be time for a new battery because I did notice on my lowrance unit that the voltage was 11.9 and then all of a sudden it jumped to 13.6. That could be a bad battery huh. I don't want to send the unit in just yet if I have a bad cranking battery. Ok I noticed that at the Palestine tournament my dash lights were low and then normal. I do keep it charged all the time but what do you suppose I do? Let the battery stay off charge a couple days to see the voltage after that to determine if the battery needs to be replaced? Let me know...

Mine on the console does the same thing... only it does it when I changing screens. Going from a navigational screen to any sonar view. Did it about 4 times in my last tourney while I was navigating through timber on Ray Hubbard.

Only 5 months old...I wonder if I downloaded the latest update it might fix that????

I had a 998 that did same thing, sent it back, they fixed it and returned promptly. My son has one that is caused by low voltage.

Had a 897 do the same thing, called Humminbird did as they said, ran dedicated power line direct to battery to unit, still had problem shutting down. Sent it in, aweek later got a new unit. They are very good on their service. If under warranty you shouldn't have to pay the service fee, but give them a call.

If you have charged battery allot you may have overcharged and should check water levels. Then check voltage
