Just recieved a call from my mechanic and found out my powerhead is blown on my 07 Mercury Pro XS 225 so I am looking for a whole motor to replace mine. New or used with low hours around 10k or less. Can someone help me out or point me in the right direction.

Why not replace the powerhead?

My mechanic qouted me close to 10k for a remanufactured powerhead plus labor cost. At that price I figured I might as well get a new motor and install myself.

I would say your getting ripped on the 10k. You should be able to buy a powerhead and get it installed for less I would think. Call some other mechanics and get their opinion first.

Be very, very careful there. Tha folks on it have really changed tha last few years....I just bought a "pristine" high performance tiller arm (supporting vender). Took it outta tha box, dropped it on tha floor. Looked like I put a firecracker in a box of crackers when tha "rust" settled. It seems ta be gettin' worse than ebay lately! Do your homework............
