I needed a little longer rod so I thought I would try an 8 footer with cork handle first. I am impressed with the feel of the rod and the balance. Looking forward to fishing it. Now to decide if I want to put a small baitcaster or spinner reel on it. hmmm

Baitcaster! Something about a jig I can feel better with my first finger on top of the reel. Live bait I use spinning and feel the line with my middle finger. I have no idea why God made me that way.

As far as my crappie rods go...i have one bait caster and two dozen(or so) spinning reels...not real sure what your preference is...pretty sure what mine is though...either way, Get a Shimano...that rig should last 10 years or so, no problems...I still have a Shimano 1000 spinner (used it yesterday) that I bought around 1990....I'm just saying....

I keep reading tons of good things about these rods. I guess I will have to jump on the wagon and pick me up a couple...... Let me know what winch you end up sticking on that rod.

I used mine for the 1st time yesterday. I put a new Abu Garcia Revo SX10 spinning reel on it and love it! Someone mentioned in another post that it felt like a grenade going off in your hand when the fish hit and it does! I love my new Pro angler rod and my new reel.
By the way, Bass Pro Shop is doing a reel exchange right now. Take in an old reel that you don't use anymore and they will give you money towards a new reel depending on how much the new reel costs. I brought in an old beat up $12 shakespeare reel and they gave me $25 off of a $159 Abu Garcia. They are donating the old reels to the Boy scouts.
They will be doing the same with rods soon!

I have had an eight footer for several years and liked it so much that I got another one three weeks ago. I took it to Choke Canyon last week and broke it the third day that I was there. The wind blew it under a cleat and I went to pick it up without looking down and it snapped between the first and second eye. Take better care of yours Bobby. I bought a Wally Marshall spinning reel for it and really like the set up.

You can purchase just the top end of the pole. I've broken "several". Just one of the things I love about Pro Angler rods.
