I have a 55lb thrust Minn Kota Troll Motor. 5 or 6 trips back (in November) I hit an underwater obstruction extremely hard. Afterwards, I had vibration in the motor. I looked at it and could not find anything wrong. The prop looked good as well, but I had an extra, so I changed it out. The vibration seemed to go away after that, so I did not think any more about it...

I was fishing this weekend and had to pull the prop off to clear some vegitation wrapped around the shaft and I noticed something that did not look right. The shaft does not appear to be bent, but the piece it goes into seems to be out of line. I am assuming this is a seal to keep water out. I have attached a picture. Please let me know what you think.

I would just take it into the shop, but it is Spring and I am on the water every few days. I would hate to pull the motor and loose time on the water if there is no need to.

What do yall think? Am I in danger of doing more damage to the motor by continuing to run it?

take the prop off and rotate it 180 degrees.

Believe it or not it will work!

take it to a shop and have the seals replaced and check out the inside.

Best to repalce the seals before you get more damage.
