Wonder how this will turn out. I would have never guessed an Elite tournament out of Orange. I bet more than one red fish gets caught.
I've never fished that rivers system before, I know nothing about it. I may run over one of the days for the weigh in.
Thanks, Billy

My neighbor fishes the river some, he said its a really nice ramp. He also said the river is love and may be hard to run up north.
From what little I know the better sacks come from up north.
Thanks, Billy

I live in Orange and have fished the Sabine since the 1970's and it is a great fishery. My largest river bass came from up north many years ago. But I've caught many 3-5 lb fish on the south end of the river. Most of the marshy areas will produce numbers and the occasional larger bass. Catching fish...bass and redfish, will not be a problem during this event. These guys are the best and will find them.....but like always, the angler who figures out how to consistently catch the larger ones will win.

The river is not low. The water level all depends on the wind. A north wind the water will be low, a south wind it will be high. It could change by three feet overnight if the wind switches direction. Lots of bass will be caught. I will guess at around 13 lbs a day to win. Should have boats scattered all over southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana. Some boats will run for a couple hours some will fish close.

The only restriction they have is that they can not go out in to the Gulf of Mexico. They can go as far into LA as time will allow.

I'll be making the trip down there for the tournament as a Marshall but bringing my boat to do some fun fishing, any hints would be helpful as to where to start and any hazards to watch out for. Never been there before just want to have fun and catch some fish, and stay out of the Big Boys way. Are maps available also?

I have no idea where the ramp is, never been to Orange. Is that a bad part of town. Also, where is the weight in. I looked at the info on BASS website but not being familier with the area it didnt tell me much.
This may be a question for one of the local guys, but where does teh brackish water start
Thanks, Billy
