Great report JV. Today was a tough day worked most the day, but I have a good view of Hubbard. She sure looked good today after the storm blew through. I really wanted to be out there today.

Yeah. We had a great time Friday!! Think Kathy's mask helped her sneak up on em..lol. Got the freezer restocked for the next fish fry! Thanks alot John. You worked hard to keep us on fish on a day the weather didn't cooperate.

Glad to see it was a great weekend John! We attended a funeral of some friends whose son was killed in a motorcycle accident here in Rockwall. We helped Saturday and Sunday. I was thinking Sunday that it looked like a stellar day to fish but life challenges like this take first precedent. See you at the meeting.... Love to see people catching fish...

Friday 2-22-13

Had the privilege to have Tim , retired Army Vet Joe , Cody and U.S. Marine Steven just back from Afghanistan on the boat Friday morning ... We tried his trip Monday , but with 35 MPH winds we lasted about an hour .. So we re scheduled ... Started at 8:15 am , dropped the drift socks and didn't pick them up until 12:00 pm ... Friday we caught some hogs of white bass out of the 100 we cleaned 70 where 15-16 inches .. Just stupid size ... I had their limit of fish by 10:30 am and we release another 100 or so... Just great white bass action ... When we lifted the rods to call it a day ...Joe told me , and I quote " John , I have been to 2 county fairs in my life and have never seen a freak show like this " ....I about fell over laughing ... It was a great line !!!





Saturday 2-23-13

Had my girl Bo Ann and son come in town and I told them I would take them fishing heard some really good stories about Tawakoni and decided to take a little road trip ... I had her and her son out there last year and we slayed the big hybrids and stripers we started around 1:00 pm and fished till dark .. Fish for us were scattered but we managed a box full and a few big hybrids ... Was lucky enough to talk to Matt Cartwright and he told me a little of the scoop I do have to say , myself as a guide I get a few people that watch and come to where I fish ... I don't really mind at all...but I witnesses something very Wrong Saturday ... I headed to an area and seen Matt , I stayed really far away from him because he is working ... He left that area and within minutes of him leaving , 4 boats cranked up and followed him ... I mean just followed him... You know ...it was is one thing to glass a guide and ease over there ...but to just follow him around is just wrong ... Any way .. Not on a soap box ... We needed the evening with birds working and cat hing fish that's all that matters .. We had a great time on a different lake and don't be jealous of that monster yellow bass we caught



2-24-13

Had the privilege of having Glenn and his son Scott on the boat Sunday afternoon .. Glenn called and said his so. Has never been on a guide trip and would to put his son on a couple of fish I said no problem !!! We started at 1:00 pm and fished till 4:45 pm when they said they were ready to go ... Started out headed south to fish some deep water to check to see if I could find some hybrids .. We found birds working and caught a few fish ..when that died we headed a little further south to try to fish an area where the wind was blowing into but only caught a few white bass ... I headed back to where I have been slaying white bass and it didn't disappoint ... I set up 2 drifts ..only because we ran out of water we hammered the white bass steady ... I had there 50 fish limit before 3:30 pm and we continued the catch and release for the next hour or so when we caught over 100 fish I was running out of water and said let's go look again for some hybrids ... But The winds were way to bad .. They were ready ... And the best part .. They wanted to keep the fish whole .. So I didn't have to clean them !!!







Friday on Hubbard was hog whites ... Sunday had hogs with average mixed in ... Water was 50-52 degrees ... North wind Friday and Strong South/SE winds Sunday ... I have been drifting the same area for 3 weeks with great success on white bass .. A little more slow lift on the slabs instead of dead sticking ... But rods in the rod holder still produce fish .. Windy day I have used the 1.5 oz god father slabs .. Less windy days I like the JD Slump busters in chartreuse of corse with a curly tail grub tied about a ft above the slab with a dropper loop knot all lure from www.moestackleshop.com ... my best depths have been 27-30 ft water.. Hybrids are mixed in .. I have dates available if interested ... I might run some more party boats trips until spring break rally kicks in ...
