I was talking to a guy who grew up in Dallas some 50 years ago and he said he fished a place in Dallas called Turtle Creek... I think that was the name. He was saying that it held all the species of bluegill. I'm guessing all the species found in Texas... ? Anyone fish that creek, and are the bluegill still there? Aloha, Stan

Never fished in the Dallas area before. If that creek is holding good water then most likely there would be some Bluegill there. As for Sunfish in general there would be a good chance that any of the other five species would be there also.

I know guys that periodically fish Turtle Creek and they do catch several species of sunfish. It's not a very popular place to fish so I doubt they would get fished out and it always has water in it.

Aquiles it might be Lexus cars that you were thinking about. I drive through there rugularly and also wondered about where to park to fish. That water looks very fishy.

Bluegill is just one species. The differnt species are all sunfish. Just to clarify for some of the newfound sunny fans!!

If you park you might want to wear your polo shirt and loafers. Might keep the locales from calling the Popo quite so fast. I have flyfished there but it's been 10 years or so. Lot's of sunfish but what I saw most were small.

I fish it a couple times a year, all short sessions, and catch bass, greens, green hybrids, and gills. As Razzorduck mentioned, most are small fish. Never seen a longear, redbreast or warmouth out of it but doesnt mean there aren't some in there. See lots of carp when the water warms, but I suck at catching them, determined to get one on a fly this yr though. Also, never had any problems on the social issues that were brought up in this thread, not to mention it's easy to tell someone to buzz off if being bothered, unless it's police, they mean business there. Had one officer flip a "u-ey" and chase me down just for expired registration. Pretty sure he got it over 60 to catch me. Speed limit is 25 or 30 there lol.

Not native, but know some land owners that stock them in private tanks.

I learned to flyfish on Turtle Creek back in 1960.
It was full of all kinds of sunfish including some nice largemouth bass.
Probably full of greenies now. Be careful around the south part towards Reverchon Park though, nowadays something may catch you.
I fish because the voices tell me to...

Rode my bike from what is now called Lower Greenville. It used to be very Highland Parkish! Lot of sunfish and turtles. Small world JustJ!
