I know that most of you guys already know the dangers of too much sun exposure. I consistently use sunscreen and have for years. However, I have just been through quite a scare based on skin damage from when I was a youngun. I went to a dermatologist to get a mole on my shoulder checked out. It had started to turn a darker color. He decided to remove it and send it to the lab for analysis. This is after the removal.  The lab showed an evolving melanoma, which the most dangerous of the skin cancers. It had not gotten to the melanoma stage yet fortunately. The doctor said that he needed to redo the initial mole removal to make sure that he got all of the mole and the margins around it. This is the result of that not so fun little adventure.  This rather sizable chunk of tissue was sent in for analysis also. I was glad to hear that the doctor had removed all of the damaged area, and I am good to go once I get my stitches out. Just be careful out there and keep an eye on any unusual looking moles. If I had blown this off for another few months, I may have been in trouble. Nuff said, now lets go fishing.

Please take the advice! My wife had to have very extensive surgery this year including removing almost half of her ear because a mole went unchecked for years. Its serious business...

Glad it turned out well for ya Curt. I never wear sunscreen and don't seek shade a lot of the time either i really need to be more careful thank you for this realization!

These kinds of things are becoming cheaper and more popular...I recommend getting one - recommend the umbrella style though, I have a beach style and its a PITA to set up by yourself. Or just get a brolly, whichever.

skin cancer sucks, my mom lost her uncle to it, he never used sunscreen and never had it checked out until he checked out. cover up with something!
