I have the elite 7 and I love it, however, I noticed while I was on Lake Waco (second time I used it) that the GPS was incredibly slow and it often took some time for it to figure out where I was or for the screen to update. Do any of you know if there is something I can do to help speed it up? I used it on Canyon lake a few weeks prior and it did not seem to be as slow then. I do not have a lot of way points saved or anything on it that I feel would slow it down. I have a navionics card installed. It was slow regardless if it was using the navionics card or the lowrance software.
Thanks

When you are talking slow, what are you doing with the boat?
If you are sitting still or barely moving the gps can lose track of where you are and most gps units refresh at once per second. That is why I put an LGC 4000 antenna on my hds. It updates 5X per second and still loses me when I'm fishing a brush pile.
If it is when running then I know your pain as my units don't keep me in a full map because of the speed of the computer processor that is in it.

This is a problem I have experienced with both HB and HDS 8 systems. HB came out with a new GPS puck a month or so back that speeds it up a bunch and now Lowrance has announced one they say will be out in April. Don't know which units it will work with other than the HDS models but, Elite 7 may be on the list as well. It's another $200 but worth it in my opinion. I got mine from Shut Up and Fish since they are less than list price and support TFF and are in TX.

Thanks for the replies.
The map will often lose me when I am running. I have it set to Course Over Ground up instead of North up on the map. It was slow to rotate the screen and then the screen would go to white instead of showing the map. It was especially slow to update after I was sitting still or drifting for a while and then headed out to a new spot. I wasn't sure if it was just a poor signal in Waco or if it was the unit.
Okiebob, thanks for the info on the GPS puck. I will look into it but I hope it isn't something I have to have. The real test for this unit will be when I head to the coast in March.
Thanks again.
